I am the founder of Baptists for Biblical Values, an organization focused on connecting Baptists with their state legislators in an effort to protect religious liberty. We started in 2008 in Iowa (Iowa Baptists for Biblical Values) where I pastored Heritage Baptist Church, Burlington, IA for 28 years. I am now working full time assisting pastors with similar efforts in 10 states including West Virgina.
In 2020 I assisted Pastor Bo Burgess, Jordan Baptist Church, Gallopolis Ferry, in founding West Virginia Baptists for Biblical Values and I continue to assist him in building the organization. We enjoyed a great victory earlier this year when the legislature passed the WV Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Our goal is fourfold:
1. Maintain a regular presence of Baptist pastors at the Capitol.
2. Identify and encourage Christian conservative legislators.
3. Provide a gospel witness to everyone at the statehouse.
4. Track legislator’s votes on bills of concern to believers and encourage the passage of legislation protecting religious liberty and life and disperse that information to believers in our churches.
